Dogs in Noordwijk
Dogs are warmly welcome upon request and for an additional fee in selected hotel rooms. Noordwijk is also a wonderful destination for those who enjoy exploring the area with their dog. From a designated dog-friendly beach to beautiful walking routes through the dunes and green surroundings, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the area together. Please note that rules vary by location and season. Always observe the designated leash requirements and follow the signs posted locally.
Dogs in Nature
Dogs are very welcome in Noordwijk. However, the rules vary depending on the season and the section of the beach. From September 1 to May 31, dogs are allowed to run off-leash on almost the entire beach. The exception is Noordvoort, where dogs must be kept on a leash all year round. From June 1 to August 31, dogs are not allowed on the beach between beach access points 1 and 21. On several other sections of the beach, dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. In addition, dogs are allowed to run off-leash all year round between beach access point 1 and the municipal boundary with Katwijk. This is where the designated dog beach is located.
Dogs in Restaurants
You are welcome to sit at our special dog-friendly tables or on our terrace. There are also several other restaurants and beach pavilions in Noordwijk where dogs are welcome, such as Beach, Bij de Duinen, Bries, De Koele Costa, Open Doors, Restaurant Two Brothers, Salt Seafood, Strandhuis De Zuid, Strandplaats Nederzandt, Strandpaviljoen De Zeespiegel, Tulum, ’t Pannenkoekenhuisje, Witsand and Zeemeeuw (terrace).
Please note that from June 1 to August 31, dogs are not allowed between beach access points 1 and 21.
Kachelduin Route
3,6 km walk through the dunes of Noordwijk
A lovely route through the varied dunes. From the viewpoints, you can enjoy beautiful views of the sea and the countryside, which is transformed into a colourful landscape by the blooming bulb fields in spring.

Walking Route Dennen
2,1 km walk through a wooded area
A lovely walk through the atmospheric pine forest. Wander peacefully along the forest paths and enjoy the nature around you. Keep your eyes open along the way and look out for squirrels, deer and hares.

Malote Thalasso route
Discover 5 km of beautiful nature in Noordwijk
Through the forest, along shifting sands and wet dune valleys. Discover the remnants of the Second World War. The combination of peaceful nature and fresh sea air makes this walk extra special.

Piet Floris Walking Route
4,2 km walk through rich woodland and dune landscapes
A varied route through woodland and open dune landscapes, with a rich variety of flora and fauna. The Piet Floris Valley, named after Piet Floris’s former potato field, is a lovely place to take a break and relax. Enjoy the spacious meadow and pleasant picnic areas.
